Will-O’-The-Wisp

By Christopher Bernard Lidstone

-

Yes I have my hands and feet

But I feel so incomplete

My arms and legs are with me too

But my heart is gone with you

-

How I live I just don’t know

But my blood still seems to flow

I breathe the air everyday

But my life is gone away

-

How is it that I walk

That I think and that I talk

What is keeping me alive

With all this emptiness inside

-

I wake, I sleep, I dream of you

That’s all it seems I ever do

It’s all because of what I lack

But will I ever get it back

-

------------------------------------------------

-

Will-o’-the-wisp is a hope or aim

That can never be fulfilled

CBL - Your nicely rhymed poem brings up the thought of that old saying - "You can't have everything." Gus
