What About Drugs
41I have never been a drinker, not even socially. It seems that sense I got my drivers licence in 1972 I have been the designated driver.
As a teen in the seventies I like most everyone tried pot, but I never liked anything that affected my thoughts. It's not that I am against it, just that it's not for me.
Anyway this summer a friend asked what my thoughts were on this matter, so I decided to write a little poem about it. I am weary about posting it, as I do not want to appear as a advocate of drug use, for I am not.
Enough said.

Even though it is a crime
Everywhere you go you’ll find
Marijuana and Cocaine
Its popularity is insane
-
The chances that people take
Just for fun and freedom sake
The prohibition of this time
As make the most popular a crime
-
Sighting the worst abusers
As the most common users
But addicted personalities will find
Relief in things that numb the mind
-
A sniff of glue, a can of paint
A drink of rum, a modern saint
Anything to take away
The lost and lonely everyday
-
And what of all the other users
Could they be a bunch of losers
Or are they someone you know
Who does a little smoke or blow

I think that the government should decriminalize drugs for the simple reason that if it wasn't illegal, than more people would seek help without fear of reprisal.
Good job!
One of the saddest things to witness is a friend or love one's life dissolve into a puddle of liquor. On the other hand, when used in moderation, it can be a balm after a long day. As for marijuana, it's not as harmful as portrayed. I do think it leads to a sort of demotivational syndrome. It can also give you the idea that your thoughts are falsely profound--or that has been my experience. At the end of the day, the litmus test is, for me, would I recommend it for my son? The answer is NO. Drinking? In moderation. That's my two cents. Nice poem.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Drugs can steal a person's life right out from under them. Beautiful poem, can't wait to read more.
Really enjoyed the rhythm and observation in this one Chris.
woo good hub... of life. i like it and thank ur follow me
I loved it ! In few words so many truths ! Cheers ! :)
I take nothing illegal. I do know that diet pills and other "legal" prescriptions were wrong for my mother decades ago as a lot of illegal things are today.
Marijuana is nothing comparing to alcohol.Too many lives are lost to them all but Alcohol is the biggest culprit!I rated you up again!
Chris, I am an admitted control freak so drugs were never a question. There might have been a lot of luck involved because I saw some of the stupid things people did when they were being stupid; before I was old enough for it to be an issue. I sure didn't want to be like any of them. It turned out to be a good thing when I decided to become a pharmacist. Illegal drugs and a pharmacy career do not mix well.
good post, There is nothing wrong with the smoke and "blow" in my oppinun.

Good poem, good subject, I like it!
I wrote a hub on legalisation from a Christian perspective:..."Don't Bogart that joint my friend..." which gives my opinions on the usage.
