The Bow in Time
By Christopher Bernard Lidstone
-
When I was just a little boy
A bow to me was just a toy
It seemed like such a simple thing
It was just a stick and string
-
But the bow gave me such fun
That I chose the bow, not a gun
A talent good enough to show
The bow and I began to grow
-
I shared this gift with all I knew
And with these gifts my talent grew
With a bow in my hand
Flying arrows understand
-
Just exactly where to be
When my hand set them free
And my children understood
So I gave them bows of wood
-
To the high schools I would go
With the only sport I know
Giving them a chance to be
Proud archers just like me
-
Archery became my life
Even calling to my wife
No longer just a stick and string
A bow is such a beautiful thing
-
While traveling in a foreign land
I happened on another man
He was brown and I am white
But we looked so much alike
-
The next words seemed strange to me
He said “We have history”
“Not in this life but in one past”
Now am I supposed to ask
-
How and when I could not see
Could reincarnation really be
Continue please I want to know
Of friends and archers years ago
-
Could this be a second time
And the gift with bow be rhyme
He recalls a fatal wound
In a field so long ago
-
Slow and painful to the end
Only comfort was his friend
Who again he would meet
On a crowded foreign street
-
Though I have no memory of this
The story gave me such a lift
He said your soul is very old
And that this story must be told

Very powerful!
Wow, great...and so interesting. I especially love this end:
Though I have no memory of this
The story gave me such a lift
He said your soul is very old
And that this story must be told
It is always good when we find out that this life is not only one...it makes as feel more satisfied and grateful, no pressure any more...
Thank you for sharing this...
